Here is how I created my Lilac Makeup look using mostly Drugstore products.
Summer Flower Child Lookbook
Friday, 6 May 2016 / boho, Fashion, flowerchild, lookbook, ootd, summer
For this ‘Flower Child’ look I wore a tan crochet jumper (thrifted)Over a brown Bralet and leggings which can also be used as a beach cover up over a swimsuit. The accessories you match with an outfit always enhances the look, which is why I went for strong statement pieces, the beaded and feather necklace emphasizes the bohemian feel and I also wore a flower head band (both from peacocks) and yes a Flower crown has become a bit generic but who doesn’t like the look of flowers in their hair? It’s a trend that is not going to die out anytime soon!

A lot of your beauty needs can be taken care of by using these staple household products, these are useful hacks to know in case you ever plan to have a day of pampering but forget something in your trip to the shops, with this knowledge can create your own D.I.Y homemade Products or maybe you are considering going green and favour natural remedies,You can recreate the feel of a Beauty Spa from the comfort of your own home!
Teeth Whitener : Baking Soda + Lemon/Lime Juice
Baking Soda can be used as a natural teeth whitener, squeezing some lime or lemon onto a small amount of baking soda and then brushing it through like you would with toothpaste every other 2 or 3 days will create dramatic results, especially if you are a habitual Coffee and tea drinker, Even though it is natural its advisable to not do this on a daily basis as it quite strong and you don't want your teeth falling out,It is now common knowledge that consuming Fluoride has many health risks so some companies now produce toothpastes with Baking Soda as the active ingredient.
Make up Remover: Oil
Trying to ditch high chemical products?Removing makeup with Olive Or Castor oil can be as easy as pouring small amount on a damp cloth or pad and then wiping off makeup with that damp pad the oil will naturally diffuse the make up particles without haring your skin, and then you can rinse your face with water.A lot of make up remover products claim to be 'oil free' as if this is beneficial for your skin, however when these products strips your face of its natural oils, your skin will try to reproduce it again and this can aggravate the skin and cause breakouts,It contains the same healthy fats as avocado, which plumps and moisturizes the skin with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin A
Shampoo: Apple Cider Vinegar

Skin Exfoliator : Honey

Is our Makeup Toxic?
Tuesday, 5 April 2016 / beauty, cruelty free makeup, Makeup, organic makeup
Do we really know what we consume on a daily basis? when putting on makeup its easy to think that you are just applying the product on the surface of your skin and that by wiping it off at night that all the product is permanently removed, however there are many chemicals in our make up that are all absorbed by our skin and enters our system and sometimes even our bloodstream. Some of us apply makeup on a daily basis so its necessary become more conscious about what it is that you are putting in your body your body .One makeup item that i always carry on me is a spare lipstick. The kind of lipstick colour you put on changes the whole look of your face, when at work i wear a nude lipstick like Rimmel Coffee Shimmer and upon leaving i sometimes switch to a vibrant red or purple depending on where I'm heading off to.But what kind of toxins do they carry?.
Based on research already conducted ,the vast majority of lipsticks whether they are cheap super drug brands or high end labels contain toxins and metals such as led, aluminium and cadmium, there is no set limit to the amount of lead used in cosmetics, with such low regulations we don't know the harm that these chemicals can cause, scientists have stated that long term it poses serious risks ,the majority of make up is manufactured in American labs which are supposed to be checked by the FDA,however they falsely state that the levels of metals in lipsticks are safe.Unless you are using an organic brand you expose yourself to these health risks. When heavy metals accumulate in the body, over time, their presence can result in a wide range of health problems. In addition Parabens has been found to cause cancer, but can still be found in a lot of hair products ,toiletries and cosmetics.
Finding organic cosmetic brands that provides natural formula's with active organic ingredients can be hard, especially if you are on the darker side of the colour spectrum, one brand leading the way forward is ZAO cosmetics .Not only are they ethical ,organic and use sustainable packaging, but their foundation department boasts of a wide range of shades to suit women of all skin tones,a factor that many if not most 'organic' make up brands fail time and time again ,which is including darker shades for Black and Dark skinned Asian Women.Hopefully we will see a rise in the options available .
