OOTD:SPRING NIGHTS LOOKBOOK:SUMMER FLOWER CHILD HOME

Barcelona Part 1

Thursday 25 September 2014 / ,

This was my view from the plane when me and some friends booked last minute tickets to Barcelona. We found a cheap place for our stay, we didin’t take the traditional hotel or hostel route but used the website AirBnB which allows people to put their home or spare room on offer to rent, I preferred this as we got to stay in an authentic Spanish Apartment with our own kitchen and bathroom, which gave us the option of buying our own food and cooking at home as opposed to eating out every day. It was essentially a home away from home. Not that we were there all that much since we woke up at dawn and returned at dusk! But I’ll definitely be using AirBnb again.

The first two days we explored the city, tasted the local food and had a guided tour on foot. As soon as we left the house we were greeted by a hoard of people jogging through the streets, yes guys…the Spanish are not always taking siestas ,even in the 35 degree heat they like to stay fit by jogging and taking part in what seemed to be a community marathon.

We started our journey from the Plaza De Espana, one of the cities biggest and spectacular squares, we took a pit stop in Las Ramblas and had a bite to eat,I had some Tortilla de patatas and zumo de naranja(potato omelette and orange juice) surprisingly the potato 'omelette' was in the shape of a chunky pizza slice,it tasted good though so i cant really complain. The central meeting place for the 1 hour guided tour we had booked ourselves started from the Barcelona Cathedral ,the tour was free but its common courtesy to tip,we were led to to various locations and attractions of interest and informed about its history; after this we continued exploring on our own and found ourselves in the Barcelona football stadium and Olympic park.
